Sacrosanct
Again we drink of passion's share -
We lay our beauty bodies bare
And through your mane my fingers curl
Devoted, weaving flowers there
To glorify the crown you don
As slow, our silken flesh unfurls -

So slow the ticking of the stars -
Suspend all time, you in my arms
To cradle, sing a sacred sound,
Enshroud, envelop, stir, surround....

There is no flesh, nor distance, time.
Sweet answer, rest your head, your eyes
Your breathing steadies, quiets, slows
Yon pillow next to mine -
Breath's bower, more exquisite still
Than all the spice trees' nectar knows!

So sleep that I may softly call
Your name as off to dream you fall,
And kiss the corners of your smile
If only in my mind a while.

Then, stretching, when you 'rouse awake
Behold - I give in bounty, take -
We, holy holy, sacrosanct:

So lay your beauty down again
Lay, lover's love - sleep, my sweet friend.
